Workshops

I have designed and created several workshops focusing on specific skills. My workshops are interactive, based on concrete examples and because I am a seasoned instructor, I know how to keep your attention. In other words, you won’t be bored!

Dutchisms

Do the Dutch really speak good English? Yes. And no. Dutch natives tend make frequent “Dutchisms,” which is what this workshop is about. Do you sound like this?

There is allways occuring a difference what we attribute to the goal.

If so, this workshop is for you! The Dutchisms workshop helps Dutch speakers become aware of common translation mistakes. See my blog entry here.

Business English Writing

This workshop is for those who want to structure and expand their written English skills and sound more “native.” We focus on practical exercises for typical business situations, such as:

  • making and responding to complaints
  • longer reports
  • emails (in-company and externally)

Emails, which are essential to today’s business, are particularly problematic. In my experience, everyone needs some guidance!

Writing Amsterdam

This workshop uses the city as a creative writing prompt, encouraging writers to rediscover and explore the landscape around them. Meet fellow writers, unstick your writer’s block, and have a creative adventure.

As we explore the city, things come alive again: chipped coffee cups, flattened bike tires, flaky bitterballen and the stillness of the canals late at night. This workshop is for local writers, all nationalities welcome. It runs on 4 consecutive Saturdays (12-16:00), though drop-ins are also welcome.

Please email me for the schedule.
